Some awful news to begin the season.

Harry Redknapp and Mick McCarthy have joined Match Of The day as pundits.

Thank fuck La Liga games are now 8pm and 10pm on Saturdays so i can just fast forward the analysis.

Opening day round up (so far)

Arsenal can only draw 0-0 at home to Sunderland. I guess fingers will be pointed at Van Persie not being there but the new signings should have done enough. Disappointing start I'd guess you'd say.

Fulham got off to a great start, beating Norwich 5-0 at home. Swansea did likewise away to QPR.

Reading open with a 1-1 draw at home to Stoke.

Liverpool continue where they left off last season with a 3-0 defeat at West Brom. Agger was sent off to add to the misery. It could have been worse but Shane Long missed a penalty.

West Ham make their return to the Premier League with a 1-0 home win over Aston Villa.

So the current top 4 is

    Fulham
    Swansea
    West Brom
    West Ham

Newcastle vs Spurs is the evening game. I hope this will be entertaining.

0-0's are always disappointing, but Sunderland are a difficult team. I'd rather draw with Sunderland than get trounced by West Brom.

Plaudits deservedly go to Swansea and Fulham. Norwich get my "lol" of the week

Yeah it happens now and then. I mean Arsenal had 23 shots to 4, but only 3-2 on target wise. Arsenal will get better over time this season.

Newcastle edge out Spurs 2-1. Deservedly won overall though the game wasn't very good in the first half. Second was much better and Demba Ba gave Newcastle a lead before Jermaine Defoe wiped it out. Ben Arfa scored the winner from the penalty spot.

    Very good win for Newcastle.

    Nah. Didn't even travel.

Rumour has it (Guillem Balague) that Chelsea have actually come in with an offer. But it's likely he'll still go to Real Madrid.

    Two games today.

Chelsea went to Wigan and won 2-0, both goals coming in the first six minutes from Ivanovic and a Lampard penalty. In the end Wigan had more chances and shaded possession, but with lacking quality as they do they couldn't take their chances. Chelsea will take it but it wasn't that good a performance by any means.

Man City edge out new boys Southampton 3-2. The match was similar to the match where City won last year's title in that they scored first, went 2-1 down and then won, albeit not as late. Southampton can take a lot from the game, and they'll surely get results. Tevez scored the opener before Lambert equalised in the second half. Steven Davis scored the second before Edin Dzeko scored the equaliser, and Samir Nasri, recently freed from his chains as Arsenal's most hated player, scored the winner. Looking at the performance you couldn't really tell who were the Premier League champions and who were the newcomers, and that's to Southampton's credit. Exciting game though.

I got married this weekend and didn't actually expect to see any games, however we (the family) went out for breakfast on our wedding day to a cute little Dutch place and of all the games....... they were showing Swansea!! I was so surprised that 1. it was even on TV and 2. they had it on there! So I got to watch my beloved team win 5-0 on my wedding day, what a great start to both the season and my marriage! Hah!

    Congrats

I know someone who lives in Denmark actually, and the main channel there for showing football has now announced it's showing Swansea every week.

Two problems. He doesn't support Swansea and the other is when the games clash with Man United games, he'll have to search on the internet.

But such is the power of Laudrup.

Monday Night Football back tonight, we go to Everton which is always a tricky fixture.

Thank you! That's a nifty bit of info there, and maybe with our apparent new signing Ki Sung Yueng we'll be even more popular in Asia than Cardiff are trying to be

    Congrats
Even better day I suppose to hear about Brendan Rodgers opening day woes, lol.

Fellaini is immense tonight. What a player.

Pretty disappointing performance from us. Everton deserved to win overall and if we can't mark the 8 foot tall Fellatio then we had no chance. we had plenty of the ball but lacked the finish. Kagawa was good on the plus side. i'm glad we're signjnig this left back because Patrice Evra should have to retire.

I like all the plastics on Twitter having a go at Van Persie. Judgemental cunts.
