Barter Kings
This show is amazing. One guy had gold records worth $250 and traded up to an $8000 boat. No cash is ever involved. They just keep trading up.
Anyone ever bartered before?

Re: Barter Kings
No, I'd love to try it but I can't find any sort of network for it in my town that's particularly active. It seems awesome though, if you have the energy to devote to finding and aiming for something decent

Re: Barter Kings
I'm too much of a skeptic to believe any of it is real and not staged. I have watched it, just this morning as a matter of fact.

Re: Barter Kings
I don't know if I would necessarily say the entire thing is staged, but some of the scenes might be "rehearsed" or done with multiple takes.

Re: Barter Kings
OK but like when they are just out riding around and see a sand rail and decide to go try to trade for it, I don't imagine they didn't already know it was there and hadn't already arranged to meet with the guy. The complete BS "reality" shows like Lizard Lick Towing have ruined my opinion of reality tv.

Re: Barter Kings
They didn't have any like that when I watched. It was mostly craigslist and ads.

Re: Barter Kings
I'm not saying it is. I figure most "reality" is just the opposite.
Now that I actually think about it... some of the ways they get people to agree are kind of crap. I mean, telling someone they would have to make two transactions to sell their ... guitar and then they have to buy a bike, when he could just trade and the 500 difference doesn't matter because there's no hassle. And then the guy is like, well, yeah, okay.
It's not that easy to negotiate when there's money involved.

Re: Barter Kings
Yeah I think about 80% of what we see on most reality shows is staged. Operation Repo at least tells you up front its all a re-enactment.
