Ugh that sux... not too bad on the price though... I have always wondered what the margin is on a windshield and stuff like that... I remember have to replace one in my ex wife's old avalon after my buddy and I cracked it trying to fix the mirror... I bet they really make stupid money on those..

I will admit, I totally cried. When I got in I thought I was sitting in the wrong car. CLEARLY this is not MY Focus with this fucking cracked windshield *strained laugh*

I got a pretty good discount from them, only $276 total. The money never stops flying out of my wallet, it seems! lol

Well our insurance covers windshield here but there is a $200.00 deductible.. So in the end I paid as much as you for the last one I had replace from a rock from a dump truck that fell.. Even with the guys plate number the insurance said it was my word against his and he would win as there are way to many trucks on that road to say it was HIS.. Insurance sucks..

I thought I might have a case if they covered it, I mean, I wasn't even there. No rocks flipped up on my windshield since I bought it, nothing funny happened...it was a clean split 2ft long+ with a tiny chip mark...I have no idea what happened.

The Tiny Chip mark means you probably got a rock from another vehicle..

Have you had it cold and hot.. It you hear a snap type of sound in the car but could not figure out where it came from ?

Usually the tiny chip will really take on a life of it's own fast.. Cold and Hot or hitting a pothole will really snap the glass..

No rocks or sounds when I was driving, my guess is it happened while was parked at work. It was freezing in the morning, then baking in the sun all day...my coworker said the lawn mowers were out...that's a possibility

I have a chip in my Escort windshield that's held up and not grown for a good 4 years. My dad's old truck had a huge gouge for 10 years...just depends on the hit, mine split clean in half with the tiniest shard of glass ever indicating a rock....ugh

Yup Lawnmowers will do it as well..

Yes you can have a chip for a long time and nothing but best to get it filled with silicone..

In this case you got unlucky.. Most of us have had it happen.. In my driving life I have had to replace at least 10 of those all for various reasons..

Really blows. I got her back today, and I had to basically park it in the same spot so I'm paranoid. It's the "nice" part of the lot, few cars around, bigger spaces, people in Caddies who are also paranoid about dings...

Not sure what to tell you but yes it sucks..

The fact it can happen any place at any time should not make you fear parking or driving your car anywhere. You just can't predict this happening..
