    Exclamation Laptop Screen Issues?!?!

Alright, here's the basis I can explain to you...

My laptop is a Toshiba, it can run windows XP, and all that.
Ummm... whenever the log-in screen for the computer comes up, it only brings up one log-in name, unlike as if you were using windows vista or w/e... there is only one log-in (original old grey format)

Ummm... but anyways, I have this black bar on the right side of my screen that won't go away, this computer is pretty much REALLY old, and doesn't really work worth a dang...
Ummm... the black bar is about as wide as a standard ruler, and goes all the way up my screen... From the looks of it, basically, it moved everything over until the black bar ended... like, the toolbar at the bottom of the screen isn't really cut off, more or less, it's moved over to the left a little more...

    ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD REALLY HELP...

Can you access BIOS by pressing F2 when starting up? Or the BOOT options by pressing F12?

No clue... I don't really know a whole lot about computers. But if I can access BIOS, where do go from there?

Well it may be a problem with your power settings.

    Try:
    1. Turn off your computer.
    2. Disconnect every wire from it (including power).
    3. Disconnect the battery from the bottom of the computer.
    4. Re-plug in the power wire. (the battery should not be in the computer).
    5. Turn on the power. The screen will work. Choose start windows normally. (if you get that screen)
    6. Go to Control Panel -> (Mobile PC) -> Power Options -> Under Balanced choose change plan settings.
    7. Choose Change advanced power settings.
    8. Find Processor power management and change the minimum processor state from 5% to 100% for each On battery and Plugged in.
    9. Click Apply then OK.
    10. Shut down you computer.
    11. Disconnect the power cord.
    12. Re-install the battery on the bottom of the laptop, plug in the power cord, and restart the computer.

Going to probably be hard to follow if your not very computer literate!
