    Default job=depression

do you think that the combination is possible? do you think that your job can contribute to depression? im not just talking about the "i had a bad day, i hate my job" but more deeply than that

Absolutely, anything that can affect you emotionally can contribute to depression.

That's exactly the situation that I'm in... I get physically ill and really down just thinking about going to work a lot of the time.

That plays a huge part I am sure
In better economic times you surely would feel somewhat better just knowing other jobs were available

In my opinion, some people are pre-disposed to depression. They'd be depressed if they were unemployed too.

While some people are predisposed to depression, there are some jobs that I could easily see making a person depressed. It takes a special kind of person to be a CPS (child protective services) worker, for instance. They see the worst of the worst of humanity, and sometimes there's nothing they can legally do about it. A pessimistic person might not be able to get enough joy out of the rare victories of the job to avoid depression.

When I was a behavioural health tech. I worked with a tech and two nurses that just dropped off the face of the earth for a few weeks, at different times of course. Come to find out they checked them selves into a different psych hospital for depression. Then they were back to work.

My former workplace contributed to my depression. Fortunately, I landed the job I have now. As soon as I turned in my keys, I felt a dark cloud moving off of me. My present situation has its share of stress, of course, but it's not permanent.

    In short; Yes, job=depression.

Considering that some people with depression can't work and are on disability because of it shows right there that depression can intensify from your job.

Sometimes I think it's more the people that make a job horrible, instead of the actual day to day duties.

I really like my job. But my boss can be a right tool. Everyone in the office has said before now that the job would be lovely without him around, being a petty micro-managing dick.

I agree 100%, and I would venture to say that this is probably true for about 90% of the cases.

absolutely a job can advance depression

given the job market it makes it hard to move on to another job

best thing to do is to sit down and write down a plan of attack. give yourself something to look forward to

    Gotcha to my Lilypad
