The CHP app just list and updates any traffic collision that take place in either interstates or freeways inside CA. It also will show any traffic collison that falls within the CHP jurisdiction ( or I should say any area that CHP covers) Technically speaking CHP has jurisdiction anywhere within CA.

It doesn't list any alt routes though. The app is pretty handy though. I use it to see how my drive is going to be. Also there have been cases that Im stuck in traffic or see an accident and want to know what is going on.

Another reason I like it is because I have a couple family members that are CHP officers so I like to see what is going on in their respective area.
CHP App is just like tuning in to the CHP radio station then eh? Just that it's handy info as to info you mentioned. That will still help. Given that even with Fastrack on 91- when there's an accident- i still get caught in traffic and it's a waste paying the toll. Thanks

I have an Android phone. My favorite apps are:

Barcode Scanner (Same as RedLaser, but not as detailed as RedLaser is...if I remember correctly, RedLaser actually does comparison shopping for you, too.)
Cardio Trainer (Track your workouts, calculates calories burned, even sends you reminders for workouts)
CardStar (You can scan the barcodes or enter the member numbers for all those little discount cards you have...then the stores can just scan your phone. No more carrying around all those damn keychain cards!!!)
    Facebook (Of course)
Flightview (Check status of any flight. It sends you notifications when flights have departed, landed, etc)
Foursquare (It's like the Facebook Check-ins but you earn badges and shit.)
Georgia Bulldogs Fans (Schedules, statistics, photos, news, etc)
VCast Song ID (Same as the Shazamm thing Retro listed)

That's all I can think of right now. I'm new to the whole smartphone thing, so I'm still figuring out what apps I want. I played Angry Birds and didn't think it was all that great. *shrugs*

    I like Multi Phone Apps..

Here are a few of my Favs.. These are all Free..

    TripIt ( Trip Planner )
    WeatherEye ( Weather )
    ScanLife ( BarCode Reader )

Of course I have the Facebook, Twitter with all the Messengers and stuff.. Those are now defaults with many new phones but I try not to use them to much as battery life is precious and I need to go maximum on mine all the time..

I don't have an iPhone but I have an iPod Touch which uses the same apps. I have:
    • Angry Birds (Love...)
    • Boggle (I could play this for hours)
    • Talking Tom (Francis showed me this one when he was here. It's hilarious.)
    • ScoreMobile (gotta keep up with those NHL scores)
    • WeatherEye (so I know when it's minus stupid degrees outside)
    • Calgary Flames app
    • iBird Canada (ID's birds)
    • GoSky Watch (astronomy)
    • Kitten Canon
    • Flashlight (Sounds stupid but it's come in handy a few times)
    On my BlackBerry I have:
    • ScoreMobile
    • WeatherEye
    • eBay Mobile
    • Cineplex Mobile
My BB also came with stuff like Twitter and MySpace on it, which I promptly deleted because I'll never use those anyway. I also deleted GoogleTalk, Yahoo Messenger and AIM, again because I never use those. Kept BB Messenger and Windows Live Messenger.
