Default Hostage Killed in High School Standoff

Quote:
BAILEY, Colo. (Sept. 28) - A gunman took six girls hostage at the high school in this mountain town Wednesday, using them as human shields for hours before he shot and fatally wounded a girl and then killed himself as a SWAT team moved in, authorities said.
The confrontation at Platte Canyon High School unfolded just a short drive away from Columbine, the site of one of the nation's deadliest school shootings. The gunman, believed to be between 30 and 50 years old, was cornered with the girls in a second-floor classroom, and he released four of them, one by one.
Park County Sheriff Fred Wegener said authorities decided to storm the classroom after the man cut off negotiations and set a 4 p.m. deadline. Wegener wouldn't say what the man threatened to do. He said authorities used explosives as they entered the classroom, only to have the suspect fire at officers, shoot one of the girls and then himself.
The man was not immediately identified - one official declared him a virtual John Doe - and the sheriff was at a loss to explain a motive.

Just another reason why we need to worry a bit more about the terrorists that we have in our own country.

what a useless fact, but something that the media uses to push some adjenda of hatred of violent games. especially gta. some people will never get it, that it is not the game, it is the person/people's fault. cant take responsiblity.

after reading the article, more attempts at trying to revive feelings from columbine.

Quote:
The sight of students fleeing the high school in long lines, and of frantic parents scrambling to find their children, evoked memories of the 1999 attack on Columbine High School, where two students killed 13 people before committing suicide.
really? show me examples of multiple parents recalling bad memories ( there is only one example shown - second to last quote )

Quote:
Jefferson County authorities - who also handled the attack at Columbine - sent a bomb squad and SWAT team to the high school.
i do believe the insert of "who also handled the attack at columbine" is a worthless fact, unless you are attempting to show that the jefferson county authorities are failing at their duties. and of which, they have almost no control over in these types of cases, which shows that the little insert has no worth. so why did you put it in there????

Quote:
Michael Owens, who has one son at the middle school and another in the high school, said the anxiety was worse because of the memory of Columbine.
here's a thought: dont worry. sure, you will say, "hey lemon - your not a parent. you wouldnt know.. so shut up." ill reply, "your damn right. im not stupid to have children and worry about them. i will trust in the way i teach my children. if they get killed, its either their fault, or the person who killed them's fault. not mine." so get over it.

Quote:
Tom Mauser, whose son Daniel was among the students slain at Columbine, said: "Any adult who holds kids hostage is reprehensible."
ok. was this person even involved with this incident, or was this just an added item? because i see no mention within the text about mauser having a kid in either of these two schools related to this incident. so why the fuck is this in here??

------------

jesus, people. think. learn to take responsiblity for your own actions. if he plays gta, thats his problem. if you dont like it, take it away from him. its not the games fault. either you didnt raise him right, or he was just plain screwed in the head.

Ok, where did it mention anything about a video game, Lemon? I'm not following that part. And about the mention of Columbine... true, that is the way the media plays on words and emotions. But seriously, if you were a parent (I know, I know...) but if you were a parent and you heard the news that a gunman had taken hostages at the school your child attends, of course you will say it recalled bad memories from the Columbine incident. You would probably be thinking the worst... that the idiot was in there randomly killing kids, and that there is a possibility that your child is among those. I for one would be a nervous wreck until I was sure my child was safe and out of harm's way.

I hate to say this about you Lemon, because I really do like you and respect your opinions, but if that is the way you really think then I hope to God that you never have kids.

video game - well, i think i mentioned it because i heard alot of bs about blaming the video games for the school shootings or something. but if the other shootings never mentioned such a connection, i will edit and remove the video game connection i talked about.

---------

sorry. you mess with my kids, you will wish you wouldnt have, because when i get to you, my kids will have already taken care of you. this is what i would teach them -- daddy aint always gonna be there to take care of your problems - so you need to be creative in ways to solve your issues. im not gonna be on the sidelines worrying about them.. im gonna be on the sidelines grinning like a mofo, because my kids did something about the situation. they will not be cowards.

Yeah, I know what you mean about blaming the video games and even movies and such. I know the media was trying to say that video games was what caused the Columbine thing. I don't agree with that totally. But still, I think it should be the parents job to make sure their kids understand that real life is nothing like video games or movies. As much as I hate to say it, but I blame the parents of those two kids in Columbine more than I do any stupid video game.
It will be interesting to see what they manage to dig up on this dude though.

I watched this as it was coming down on the News, really not that far from me. And I agree, everytime something happens in a school they bring up columbine, and I have said it before, its getting old.

They never bother to mention that This is nothing like Columbine.. For starters this was a 50 something year old??? How the HELL was he in the school and no one questioned it? Security is sposed to be tighter in schools these days, so how the hell is it this guy goes in and is able to take hostages. This was not a fellow student who freaked out?

Sadly they are so worried about comparing it to columbine that they are over looking the scariest part of it all, This is some random Older ( none school related) who just was able to walk into a school and do all this, How is that.. Why is that??

good point. there's really no sure way to keep everyone out unless they keep all doors locked from outside and you have to sign in to visit the school. its a shame. and even then there are always people outside.

Yes. He was a terrorist. Keep in mind that a person doesn't have to be a Muslim suicide bomber who chants "Death to America" to be considered a terrorist. A terrorist is anyone who terrorizes or frightens others. Looked that definition up on dictionary.com. And no, that doesn't mean that if you go around hiding in bushes and jumping out when people walk by to try and scare them that you are a terrorist. They do these things with the intent to harm or kill people as well.
So yes, my young friend, he was a terrorist.
