Data base software

My mother has this Database software she has on her computer with her recipes in it. but she want to take everything off her computer so she can start over.

how can she remove this program off her computer WITH the programs still on it so she can redo her computer and then put the program back on her computer once its done and still have all her recipes.

im not sure. its a kitchen management database where she stores all of her recipes.

i would check for some sort of save or export feature to allow here to save the data, e-mail it to herself... or back it up to removable media. then once the computer is reimaged re-install the software and re-import the data. their should be some details on how to do this within the programs help or on the vendors website?

he went in more detail...but pretty much the same thing i said lol...It probably uses some sorft of access style database which requires actual files to pull up...it's not in the program, the database just helps organize the files and allows for easy searching to find the files.

what is the name of the software? it is hard to give you a blanket answer without knowing exactly what the software is and how it stores the entered data?

ok i just called her and it is called Kitchen and recipe management software

Ifd she has a cd burner then take the entire program in it's directory folder and burn it to CD. make sure there is an install file like an .exec file or .bat file in it. Take the recipes in the DB and back them up seperatley. Or if you have a usb port then get a memory stick and download the program to that. I assume ll she dosent have an installable Data base program on a CD already. You know, Windows has Excell which is a pretty good DB. You can use windows Access and make it a user freindly type of DB.

would try exporting the recipes with the software to a USB thumbdrive or external harddrive, or even to the local HDD and e-mailing them to herself, that way once you reformat and reinstall the software you can re-import them.
