do the run thing, and type "cmd" in the run box... it'll bring up the command prompt

windows 9x & ME:

do the run thing, and type "command" in the run box... it'll bring up the commnad prompt


then type in the other commands, like "netstat -s" or "tracert"

give us updates when they surface

now do you think if i had a shorter coaxial cable wire from my wall to the modem and a longer ethernet cable to go from my router to my computer would it make it go faster cause right now i got a 25 foot coaxial cable wire and a shorter, crinkled ethernet cable. do you think it would make it any faster.

i dont think the length of the coaxial cable matters .. i think thats based on light or something like that..

now a shorter, uncrinkled ethernet cord would help.

uncrinkle the enet cord you have, and if that doesnt do anything, call comcast, and see if they can check the router/cable modem ... if that does check out to be ok, then have them check settings on the computer, and if that checks out ok, then its the comcast lines, and you need to figure out what speed you are paying for, and then complain about not getting what your paying for, and then if that doesnt do anything, switch if you can to a different service

well maybe i should add something else. my downloading is not slow but my page loading is very slow at times. maybe its firefox. i dunno

ok well i called comcast and he did some kind of ping test and he said the signal was very week. he said it could just be the signal or the modem its self so i'll have to wait till sunday causes thats when a guys coming over to check out the modem. so hope all goes well.

ok well the cable LADY :wink just left. well according to there tests the modem is fine. she did the speedeasy test and i got a download speed of 6145kbps and an upload speed of 359kbps. but what i dont understand is to why it says this under my speed test. http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/

Last Result:
Download Speed: 6145 kbps (768.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 359 kbps (44.9 KB/sec transfer rate)


downloading is not my problem. its mostly the loading of the pages is so slow that it locks up. but when she did the test the signal was a little low but she asked where my cable was coming from and i showed her and she said who ever did this set up did it wrong. so she re did it and did the signal test again and it was better then before. so we will see.
