Cool Mass Effect (XBox 360)

Just finished Mass Effect and I enjoyed it! A while back I played Knights of the Old Republic and I prefer how combat works in Mass Effect. In KOTOR I did not care for "queing" up my actions. Combat in ME was more fluid and the environment was more varied and open. First time through I played as an Adept (equivalent to a caster). Started my second character, a Vanguard which is a biotech warrior. My impression is that being a pure soldier would be kind of boring as compared to someone who can cast. Anyone care to comment?

One critique of the game seems to be that through dialog you can be a "good caring" person or a "prick", but it makes no difference in the story line and climax. However there are some decisions you make that do effect other character's lives.

Oh, yes, it's also coming out for PC and Mac!

Mass Effect = awesomeness.

I've played through 4 times as a Vanguard, 3 female, 1 male. For some reason I can never be the 'prick.' :P I think my favorite character in the game is Ashley Williams. One of the only things I have to say bad about it is the planets. I mean, c'mon, Citadel and Noveria were the only urban-like planets. Everywhere else you took the Mako. And most of the building layouts looked the same, too. I guess I shouldn't really complain about it, though. They barely had enough room to put the game on one disk.Maybe in the next game they'll fix the flaws and stuff, give us better party members, etc.

The content hasn't been released yet: just check the Bioware official forums. They're supposed to have it out before ME2 comes out, though, so I'll be crossing my fingers for a soon release.

Yeah, Obisidion didn't do a very good job on K2. The storyline fell all flat and stuff, but, you have to admit, Kriea was a good character idea. :P

You better get it soon, V, or I'll have to buy you one myself. XD I honestly didn't think ME would be a good game until I put it in and started the character creation, and the beginning scene was just awesome. When you talk, it uses different camera angles, like a movie. If you're really battle-oriented, I'd suggest the soldier or the Vanguard as your class. I never thought much of shotguns until they put 'em in Mass Effect... then I sort of fell in love with them. :P

And maybe Kreia should invest in a plastic surgeon and stay away from the DS for a while so she doesn't look like a corpse. :P

The Force Unleashed is probably going to be a good game, since it's a new twist, but Mass Effect has better graphics and a WAY better storyline than just going around killing all the Jedi you can find.

Just rent it first, see how it is. I honestly thought it was just another video game, too, before I did the character creation and the first cutscene (which really wasn't a cutscene at all, it blended in so good!)

It looks slightly like an RPG, but from what I've seen is that it looks basically like a one-track game with only two major endings. Be all goody-two-shoes and get LS ending, be all I-will-kill-you-all and you get DS ending... =\

You hear that Bioware is actually making a KOTOR MMRPG like SW: Galaxies?

my assumption was that it would be more like an action then a rpg..i think it basically is a type of kotr3 but.. without queing moves and what not.. but then again, im just basing that on the few trailers and sneak peaks ive seen.

N: I dunno much about the controls. I guess one thing that's turning me off from TFU is that it looks like they'll be using the crappy Jedi Knight controls. *shudders* I could never stand those.

V: I've never played SW:G before. Didn't have the money for the subscription. I just really hope that Bioware WILL make a K3, because some people seem to think TFU and the MMRPG are replacing it.

Xbox automatically saves the game at the end, don't worry, I was watching. I‘m a bit worried about how they’ll bring it over to the next game, though. I keep trying to think of details of how they’ll do it or something, and I guess I don’t know until then I suppose. =\

But Mass Effect is even BETTER on the second playthrough. XD

As guns are on the blunt side, I've always leaned towards magic when it is offered. I played the game through as a Vanguard and enjoyed casting, especially enjoying lifting NMEs off the ground then filling them full of holes. Squeezing the trigger by itself seems ho-hum.

Great game (if you take you're time and do all the side quests) but I'm still eagerly awaiting a new Kotor game :P
