Default monitor problems.

I went from a 20" monitor to my 42" tv on my desktop and it's way out of scale, I've tried messing with the resolution, but I can't find where to fit the image to the screen, so everything is oversized and annoying. Help?

Resolution won't help because that is pixel relative.

What you need is to find your graphic card options, and edit the size of the display output. I.e stretch the picture horizontally and vertically to fit.

Of course if it's widescreen tv, you'll need a widescreen res

Not quite sure what you mean James. Do you have a Panasonic 42" wide-screen plasma? Is it HDTV?

Check the manual, or on the net, for the native resolution of your TV - it may be 1024x768 for example.

1024x768 is a 4:3 aspect ratio, but widescreen is usually 16:9 (1280x720).

Some widescreen plasma actually have "wide pixels" (not kidding), so the native display looks stretched on the horizontal.

'Help' is always an antithesis.

If your running a 42", I think the optimum resolution would then be 1920x1080, maybe less.

Default Re: monitor problems.

That is what this is designed for. it has a specific plug that goes into an HDMI cable which I have in the back of my TV.

I can hook my monitor up and run them both at the same time, but on my tv it has lines through it and it won't let me scale it to size to fix the problem, but my monitor works great.

wtf do I need to do here to fix the problem with the display on my tv?

Dude, every time someone asks of me these types of things, I always ask for details; I do not care if I just finished helping them.

This is what we know:

Problem: 42" Panasonic TV (Which type? LCD, Plasma, DLP?) does not display correctly with input through HDMI cable run from computer system.

Given:

- 42" Panasonic TV
- HDMI input from computer

Known:

- Windows XP (Which service pack?)

Unknown:

- Video card/updated drivers (if dedicated graphics)
- Motherboard (if integrated graphics)
- Length of cable/type (gold, regular, et cetera)

Can you get a picture of the display output on the 42" TV?
