Is file-sharing an infringement on this forum? I read the rules and it isn't mentioned.

As an example - is a link to a full copyrighted album allowable? I usually post on a forum which is owned by a major record company, and open sharing of full albums is quite common there despite the apparent conflict.

If it is technincally allowed, my second question would be, "are there members here who take it upon themselves to report such activity?" I wouldn't want to infringe from the outset or upset anyone here with a strongly held view on the subject.

I'd appreciate official feedback as well as general opinions. Thanks!

I haven't seen any clear cut rules here about it either. But the forum doesn't seem like much of a file sharing community. You might find occasional mentioning of it tho.

Cool. If it's not the done thing here I feel no desire to rock the boat. Chatting with people is what I joined for anyway.

I just wanted to get that clear before messing up.

If anyone wants to debate the morals or ethics of sharing music I am happy to weigh in. I am not convinced that it is right, but I am also not convinced that it hurts artists and have SOME sketchy arguments to maybe get you thinking.

As I said, I'm just used to an environment where people will happily upload stuff for me that I want to give a listen to and vice versa. The absence of this activity here was obvious, and I had to ask straight up because I was considering showcasing a few artists in my signature. I'll just shelve that idea i guess.

I'm usually on dial-up so I'm not much help, but I'll test the water with an album that has been permitted by the artist.
