Obama leads in 33 states with 292 electoral votes, more than enough to win the presidency. But poll numbers don't mean squat at this point, hell even the day before the election poll numbers don't mean squat... but it's all we have to go on at this point.

Obama: 46.3 per cent
McCain: 36.3 per cent
Nader: 3.3 per cent
Barr: 3.4 per cent
Other: 1.1 per cent
Undecided: 9.6 per cent

It also says something that Obama is ahead of McCain in Arizona and other red states...

your right.......polls do not mean squat

plus there is the fact that something damaging could be revealed about Obama between now and November......people already seem to be wising up about him.....after the big tele-prompt read arena speeches are over....people are asking themselves.....now what?.....and there seems to be no answer.....maybe McCain is the answer.

Not too much earlier than this time back in the day Dukakis had a sizable lead over Reagan. This is way early to figure out how this will sort out. Unfortunately money will play a bigger part than reality. Both sides will pump tons of money into bullshit ads.

we need public financing with a limit as far as using ads. if they want to raise money to cover costs to travel that is fine. the more they speak in public the better. I want to hear what THEY say and not be inundated with ads that are so full of shit it makes ya vomit.

It would be really interesting to know how much of each of the following plays into people's decision to vote:

1. Experience
2. Personality/Perception
3. Party Affiliation
4. Label: Conservative/Moderate/Liberal
5. Business or People Oriented?

For McCain, his experience is neutralized the other 4. For Obama, you can argue that No.1 is an unknown, but I like the other 4 so he is an easy choice compared to his competition.

My understanding is that Governor of Texas does not hold the same power as in other states, in Texas where the legislature welds the power. Is that correct? The point being is you can be a dufus and still get by if the right people back you.
