Default My new computer
I ordered my laptop for college last Tuesday. It's an HP dv9700t with a Core 2 Duo at 2.5GHz, 1680x1050 17" screen, 4GB of RAM, a Nvidia GeForce 8600M GS, 240GB 7200rpm HD, and some other cool shit. I'll do a review of it when it gets here, should be about another week or two.

Microsoft Windows XP Professional, currently. I do miss me some 98 though.

Enjoy. That is all I will say, except that you must be prepared for fun researching if a component has a Linux driver, or some configuration change will render your system worthless.

Otherwise, like I said, enjoy Linux. It will be a fun experience.

Good observation on the video card, it is technically a college computer, but who says you can't have a little fun. Unfortunately it's Vista, I'm gonna tough it out and if June rolls around and M$ still hasn't forced away XP I'll probably change over. I used Ubuntu on my desktop (current computer.) I liked it, but not as my only option, I might go back when I get my laptop.

ive run linux and bsd on my systems for over 12 years and i have NEVER had a piece of hardware not work. there are "generic" drivers for virtually every piece of hardware in existence.
