Dana, I don't know what you wrote before you edited but I'll try to answer your question on the face of it to give some insight.

There are different levels of infractions beginning with Warning infractions in which no penalty points are awarded but serves nonetheless as an official warning, up to higher levels of infractions which attract penalty point/s depending on the severity of the offense.

Failure to observe warnings and/or repeated abuse will most likely attract attention for additional action.

Depending on the level of Infraction/s certain loss of privileges may be evident from as little as for example losing the ability to edit posts, to other loss of privileges, to time off....and yes, the possibility of being permanently banned.

You may have realised that we have been pretty lenient in the main, notwithstanding members tend to abuse privileges time to time to test the waters. Really, all it takes is for one to apply common sense to the choices they make or possibly before making choices to conduct themselves appropriately and avoid hurt feelings. I dare say, most people know when they've done something wrong, or about to do something wrong, but often find it difficult to admit it. Sometimes it's ego, sometimes other things best beknown to themselves. Shit happens.
