Default Why do you believe in God?

Seriously, why?

I consider myself an objectivist, so I need a reason. Mine is thus: If we take the Law of Identity in the way that Rand described it, then the universe, and existance, cannot have come out of nothing. Nothing is nothing, and it behaves in a like manner. It cannot produce everything. Therefore, there must have been a being to create something from nothing.
Now, Rand said that having a conciousness which is concious of nothing is a contradiction that cannot exist. But so is nothing producing everything. And seeing as how man does not have an understanding of what is beyond this world, we can only associate God's mind with our conciousness, but I believe that they are only the closest we can come to understanding. So God is a sort of super-conciousness, above our understanding.
Why am I a Christian? Because it's the most rational religion, in my opinion.

It's the most logical approach. In an objective reality, which we have proof of via our senses and mind, A=A.

This applies to god as well. You're going to say "well god has always existed" but that doesn't address my point.

And actually matter has formed out of "thin air" in some experiments in vacuums.

*sigh*

It's unfortunate, and I need to do more research as to why I cannot answer this with validity.

Just saying, "because I do," just doesn't seem good enough, or fair enough within a discussion.

I'll get back to you.

Default Re: Why do you believe in God?

I believe in God because God's existance has been proven and backed up by science. In some religious books, there are evidence that can prove the existance of God. Darwin's theory of Evolution has been proven wrong by science. Dr. Albert Einstein proved that the Big Bang and Redshift Theories are false. Nothing supports Atheism except for fictitious beliefs.
