That should be a whole lot safer for your pornz Dana....just in case you get the ole blue screen again.

One thing tho. That bloody thing ain't got no firewire connectivity.

Firewire is the way to go man. USB is too slow in this day and age. Will advise you to get one with Firewire. Much faster speed transer, reliable. May be a tard more expensive but would be worth it. After all, you not going to be buying another one in a hurry.

Dana.. Don't buy computer hardware at Walmart. Buy it online. A) You don't pay tax. And B) Cheaper prices.

This is the same model drive, yet it's a 500GB, and it's only $111.

My computer isn't top notch so i really don't need to worry about speed. I've only got a 1.6 GHz processor but I do have 2 GB of RAM

Not talking about operating speed of your computer Dana.
Talking about connectivity between your computer and the external hardrive and it's ability to communicate with one another to transfer files. Significant difference in USB and Firewire. And believe you me, you would be transferring files between the two probably more regularly than you imagine right now. Plus, when you thinking about a large amount of files that would be stored you need a faster rate of communication. Take my foolish advice and get one with Firewire.

they can reach somewheres around 125+, depending on size, manufacturer, et cetera.

if you are looking for a good drive, and do not mind spending a bit on it, i would suggest getting a networked external hard drive. this allows you to access the storage space from any computer in the house, as well as makes the firewire/usb thing obsolete

There's nothing wrong with USB.. It's not like he's going to be constantly transfering large amounts of files on, then off the drive. He's more than likely going to store some files on there, and enjoy the portability.

Yeah firewire is faster.. But not all computers have firewire ports on them. Heck, eSATA is even faster than firewire. But again, even more computer don't have eSATA ports on them.

I have the Seagate FreeAgent Pro, and transfer speeds are pretty fast via USB. I would prefer eSATA, but I don't have a port and don't feel like buying a card

old topic... but if you still need it.... you can easily find a 500 GB for around 100-110 now which will save you money in the long run rather than getting a 320
