My new (used) fridge has ice and water on the door. Well, the ice kind of sort of works, but not really...you push the thing down and wait for a long time and some chunks of ice come out, but it's mostly clogged with frosty ice. I cleaned it out once a week ago thinking it had just been left on and not used for too long, but it has happened again. The ice that comes out of it is not good useable ice. The water...well when i push the handle it squirts a tiny squirt and that's it. Is there an easy way to fix it? I checked and the line is connected to the wall. It seems like it's not getting enough water, or there is maybe a leak that is making everything ice over or something.

Sounds like the seal between the door and the fridge may not be working properly, allowing excess outside air to trickle in, resulting in condensation buildup.

The water line could be clogged with calcium deposits, too.

how can i clear the line? is there a possibility that the line is frozen?? i guess not since theres a little bit of water
ok i checked the door seal and its good, but the little door where the ice comes out of was kind of opened. i shut it easily and hopefully that fixes the ice problem. still clueless about the water line though.

If it's just the water line, it's pretty simple. You just pull the fridge away from the wall and follow the line to where it ends. Could go under the floor to under your kitchen, etc. It's a clear line, so you'll see any causes for clogs, (debris, what not). It could be as simple as a kink, and you'll see that, too. You'd just straighten it out.

If it's clogged, I suggest replacing it, since it's a pain to get the clog out and replacing it really does take maybe ten minutes.

If after all of that is checked/done, and it still doesn't work properly, the next, (more complicated), problems could be a bad thermostat or bad water inlet valve. Which is left to a professional, but your husband could do it, depending on his handiness.

mine isn't clear, it's grey. I know its the water line though because it goes into the wall. There weren't any kinks or anything.

K, just replace it then. Weird for the grayness! Anyway, it could be the water valve. The main source.

how can i fix the valve? anything i can do myself? there is a little bit coming out but not more than a squirt at a time so i would guess it just needs to be turned up??

I mentioned up there...It's much more complicated than the actual line. And I can't offer real accurate advice, without sounding confusing!

is there any way i can disconnect the line from the valve to test to make sure the water is coming out of the valve itself?

Well, it's not that easy. You need to test the water inlet valve itself. And typically you'd need and Ohmeter for that!

i think i found the problem. it's common with the year and brand of the fridge i have! let's hope my realty company will come and fix this shit or i will be PISSED!
