Default Re: I like Huckabee's answer to this particular question.

I think he would have been best stopping 10 seconds in to his reply. His beliefs have nothing to do with the election as he so rightly stated and I hope if he ever does become president he keeps them out of politics as far as possible. From what I've seen though, the USA is a lot more influenced by religion in politics that it is here where shutting your mouth about religion is the best option. Then again, the USA dosen't have to request the head of the church of your country to form a government after winning the election. Just a different culture, I guess.

Oh wow he doesn't understand evolution. Chance has nothing to do with the process. Personally, I think not accepting the facts is very bad, but whatever floats his boat I guess...

I also like how he says "I don't know" but if he actually applies his logic further to his own beliefs he should also come to the conclusion that he doesn't really know if there is a god or not, its only his "faith" that makes him think there is. But whatever, his stance on evolution isnt the thing that should keep people from voting for him, his overall stance on everything should let people know he's socially retroactive.

I would find it hard to find a better answer to that question.
And he shouldn't have stopped 10 seconds in. He was asked the question, so he answered it, and he answered it thoroughly. I think his conviction is admirable.

Nothing he said suggests that he doesn't understand the theory of evolution - someone posed the question to him framed around creation versus evolution. And I'm sure he would tell anyone who would want to listen with not a jaundiced ear that he does NOT know whether there truly is a God, but that by faith he believes there is. That is clear.

I especially like the part about "...I believe all of us in this room are the unique creations of a God who knows us and loves us and who created us for His own purpose."

Great stuff. But Obama is the guy, y'all.

Oh I agree with you, I guess it just stems from the way we keep religion out of politics here. Out of all the questions he could have been asked, I really don't understand why they picked an insignificant one as that to ask him and felt he should have given it the contempt it deserves. Failing that he answered it well though.
Oh great to have you back Groundpowder......erm, I mean Groundpounder!

Default Re: I like Huckabee's answer to this particular question.

when i heard that you had a candidate who didnt acknowledge evolution i thought you had a nutter standing.

on the strength of that reply i think hes rather super.

the question had nothing to do with politics nor how effective this man would be as president,it was obviously aimed at making him look like a looney and lose any respect he may have from people...well you know what he handled it well and honestly and i should think he gained respect even from the opposition after that.

i would have liked the same type of question directed at other candidates to see how well they could answer.
since on a another thread it stated that you have 225,000,000 christians in the US i wonder if they would have had the balls to be honest and go against 225,000,000 of the electorate.

so an honest and dignified man at least whether or not you agree with his belief system

I don't think that number is right... take a look at a breakdown of Americans concerning religion.

So great to see you GP. I think it is going to end up being Obama & Huckabee. Time will tell. I'm not going to fully happy voting for either one even though I think both are genuinely great men.

Exactly.

And as of 2004, 224,437,959 Americans claimed to be Christian, so your number was very close Debbie. But I am sure that they are all at different stages in their walk. That is only to be expected.

He's basically suggesting all of that when he says "it was all an accident". Which it really wasn't.

Accident just means non-intentional. Is it possible you read more extreemism into Christianity than is sometimes there?
