WHAT
This is OffTopicz Football Pool. Anyone is eligible to play. You may only post one set of picks per week. This will be an ongoing event with a new thread posted each week through at least the end of Regular Season NFL Football 2007-2008. I will be the hostess and moderator throughout. Please PM me with questions or leave questions here in this thread.

RULES
Copy and paste the list of this week's games. The list is at the end of this post. Be sure you copy all of the 16 games for this week.
Pick the team you think will win each game. You may base your decisions upon any strategy you like.
Each week, there will be one game that is designated as the tie-breaker game. It will usually be a Monday night game. Not only should you pick the winner of the tie-breaker game, but you should also pick the total number of points scored by both teams.
(Example: If you think that the final score for the Bears vs. Vikings game will be 20 to 21, then you would write "41" for the total # of points because 20 + 21 = 41).
You may not edit your post. Anyone who has edited their post will not be eligible to play that week and their picks are void. No exceptions. Make sure that your picks are correct before you post them.

EXPLANATION OF TIE-BREAKER
At the end of each week, a list will be posted that shows who "won" that week and everyone's rank will be shown. The first criteria is the Win-Loss ratio. Whomever has picked the most winners will "win" the pool this week. If there is a tie between 2 or more people with the win-loss ratio, then I will use the tie-breaker guess to break the tie. The person who guesses closest to the total number of points scored by both teams will win the tie. If there is still a tie, the person who posted first will win the tie.
(Example: Person A posted first and her win-loss ratio is 13-3. She guessed a total of 38 points for the tie-breaker. Person B posted after Person A and his win-loss ratio is also 13-3. He guessed a total of 42 points. The actual score of the tie-breaker game was 20-21. The total points = 41. Person B would be ranked higher because his tie-breaker prediction was closer to the actual combined score.)

WHAT DO YOU WIN
The winner of each weekly game will win 1000 extra reputation points added to their current total. The Admin have so kindly agreed to donate the points to the winners. I will arrange for the winner to receive his/her points each week. Win 3 more weeks - get 3,000 points!

YOU MUST HAVE YOUR PICKS POSTED BY 8:15 PM (EST) ON THURSDAY, DECEMBER 13TH.
Be sure to pick the winners for all of the 16 games. Do not forget to choose a prediction for the total points scored by both teams on the designated tie-breaker game. If you do not give a tie-breaker total, then I will default your guess to 200 points. For this week, you may post your picks in 2 to 3 parts if you like. You may post the 1 Thursday game by 8:15 PM (EST) on Thursday, December 13, then the Saturday game by 8:15 PM (EST) on Saturday, December 15 and the rest of the games by 1:00 PM (EST) on Sunday, December 16. Or you may choose to pick all games at once, as long as they are in by the Thursday deadline. If you post late, only the games that have not started on Thursday, Saturday or Sunday at the time of your post will be counted in the ranking. You may not post a pick for the Monday night game (or the designated tie-breaker game) after the results for the previous games have been determined.

NEW IDEA
ALTERNATIVE POSTING
To keep your picks "secret", you may follow this procedure to keep others from seeing your picks. Post your picks as usual, before the deadline. Be sure to pick for all of the games including the tie-breaker number. Immediately after making your post, edit it and then click "Delete Message". This will remove the post from your view. I am able to see all deleted posts and I can renew the post after the games have started. I will PM everyone who follows this procedure to assure you that your post is definitely there. You MUST still post before the deadlines.
