ok so i found this and it explains better the point i was trying to make actually about what it could be considered...its all in how you view it
“Where can I go from Your Spirit?
Or where can I flee from Your presence?
If I ascend into heaven, You are there;
If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there.”
psalms 139 Verse 7&8
This verse substantiates the Omnipresence of God, as He is everywhere. Not one of us, the righteous or the unrighteous can escape from God’s presence. We may not choose to abide with Him, but that does not preclude His being present. God is like the air we breathe, clean air anyway, we can’t see it but it is there. As soon as it’s gone, we die! It wasn’t by accident that God breathed the “breath of life” into Adam’s nostrils before he became a living being.

So, as we make our journey in life, whether our own selfish thoughts and desires lead us or whether we allow God through His Holy Spirit to guide us, He is always present, in our midst. He doesn’t force Himself upon us, but rather, He allows us to make the choices. The downside, however, to our freedom, is that God’s Laws of Creation and Physics are always at work. His continuous presence likewise invokes these “natural” laws, with the basic one being “For every action there is a reaction”. Therefore, unwise decisions bring about unpleasant consequences, even when God is present.

Well, if you are wrong and worship wrongly and there is a god, you're going to burn. :^/

AEF,

Kat and others here are kindly sharing their faith. I believe that someone that is actually a Christian, or trying to be a Christian, is going to shed more light regarding faith and spirituality of the matter because it is a personal thing and their heart is in the right place on the matter. Faith is more about the heart than anything else. Knowledge is open to everyone. Spirituality isn't.

Many, including myself, have come to many of these threads to share our spirituality by answering some of the questions posted. It is our spiritual truth. It is not to convert anyone. It is just discussion. If someone were to be shedding light on being a Buddhist I would not come in and insult them or be rude to them just because they do not believe the same thing I do spiritually. They are just sharing their personal truth of their faith.

If you do not believe in any type of religion, faith, spirituallity or what ever you want to call it, that is your choice and that is fine. But your treatment of others is unacceptable. Why do you act so ugly?

Since when is disagreeing with people considered ugly? I think I'm kindly sharing my knowledge as well. Its not like I'm setting out to bash you guys or anything.

I thought spirituality was open to anyone who wants to believe in it?

Is me telling you to read a science text book considered unacceptable? I was pretty much just fooling around, I didn't know you'd take it this seriously. Other than that I don't see how I've been disrespectful to anyone. I guess people just get defensive when their beliefs are challenged?

It's just this whole attitude of religious people that "We know the ultimate truth! You're the one that needs saving! Spirituality is for US!" is so insulting and just blows my mind. Trust me, I was EXTREMELY RELIGIOUS not too long ago, I know what the mindset is like.

You can share your spirituality, theres nothing wrong with that, but I'm going to question it, there is also nothing wrong with that either. You MUST question what you believe in. To just follow blindly is dangerous.

There is nothing wrong with having different beliefs. But it is not up to you to disagree with someone's spirituality, just as it is not up to me to disagree with someone's lack of spirituality.

You are not being kind.

Yes it is open to everyone, but if one is not an atheist then how can they really speak on it and relate other than giving it's definition? They can't. Same goes for being a Christian. Other than giving a text book definition, anyone other than a Christian is not going to shed light on the 'spiritual' aspects because they are not experiencing the spiritual aspect.

This was my point. I'm sorry if the way I worded it in my previous post was not clear.

Quote:
Is me telling you to read a science text book considered unacceptable?
Yes because you were being condescending.
I am twice your age. I have been to college. And I am back in college. My field is nuclear medicine and I have read a ton of science college books. I love science. I am not uneducated.

I didn't take offense to that particular sentence. The staff on this forum thought that is what I took offense to in your post. But they were mistaken, so it was a misunderstanding. What I actually took offense to was what you have refused to apologize for.

If you think the manner in which you post is ok and you know that when you are posting that your heart is in the right place then your posts would not come across so harsh and rude.

I do not feel an ounce of defensiveness against you AEF. I am not trying to challenge your beliefs. Other people can not shake or challenge my spiritual beliefs because my spiritual beliefs are personal, they do not involve you or anyone else.

I can certainly understand that. I have had bad 'religious' experiences as well. The difference is that you seem to be taking out your above attitude on people that are not of the same belief system as you. And that is unkind.

Quote:

It is not up to you to question me or anyone about their personal faith. Just like I am not going to question you on your faith. It is personal. Asking questions 'about' a particular faith is one thing. Disagreeing with a faith and saying it is not for you is fine as well. But you cross that line of talking about it as an issue to making it personal. To be unkind and sarcastic to people because you disagree is wrong. You will never make anyone see the error of their ways by behaving in that manner.

This is your opinion and a controlling one at that. It is not up to you what others believe in. Just like it is not up to me what you believe in. What we need to do is respect one another and be kind.

So, if someone says that they believe in flying unicorns, its not my place to question that?

You are not being kind.

I think I'm being pretty civil about things. You just seem to shy away from me questioning what you believe in. There's really nothing wrong with that.

I have experience "spirituality", and I know where it comes form. But I'm not going to get into that here.

This was my point. I'm sorry if the way I worded it in my previous post was not clear.

I don't apologize for my beliefs. No one should.

Is my heart in the wrong place? Tell me where it should be.

I do not feel an ounce of defensiveness against you AEF. I am not trying to challenge your beliefs. Other people can not shake or challenge my spiritual beliefs because my spiritual beliefs are personal, they do not involve you or anyone else.

Thats fine, but you can't really expect people not to call you out on your beliefs in a public setting when sharing them. This is debate.

I can certainly understand that. I have had bad 'religious' experiences as well. The difference is that you seem to be taking out your above attitude on people that are not of the same belief system as you. And that is unkind.

I'm not trying to insult anyone, I just think that people get offended when someone says something contrary to what they believe and think that those people are trying to offend them.

Why not? Why should we not ask questions of what we and other believe in? That is what is so important about discussion, to understand each other. You seem to want to discuss things, but your faith is some sort of "off limits" area. Beliefs are issues, since they effect other people, if anything they NEED to be discussed. Again, I don't think I'm being unkind. You would know it if I was to be unkind in discussions.

This is your opinion and a controlling one at that. It is not up to you what others believe in. Just like it is not up to me what you believe in. What we need to do is respect one another and be kind.
So never question what you believe in? I call that ignorance. You're right, it's not up to me to decide what people believe in, its up TO YOU. That is why you must question it to make sure! I am respecting you by asking about your beliefs, if I didn't care I wouldn't even be asking in the first place.

I do question what I believe in, but that is none of your business. It is my spirituality. It is my own walk and no one elses.

You made an incorrect assumption of the meaning of a statement that I made and accused me of calling people dumb/stupid/ignorant.

Then you turn around and make the following statement which cannot be misconstrued as any other way: So never question what you believe in? I call that ignorance.

Part of all spiritually requires a bit of blind faith. And people that engage in blind faith are not ignorant. It takes a bit of blind faith to get up every morning. We never know for sure what the day has in store for us.

Ok, I have no problem with that.

You made an incorrect assumption of the meaning of a statement that I made and accused me of calling people dumb/stupid/ignorant.

It really did seem that way, but if there was some miscommunication thats understandable.

Then you turn around and make the following statement which cannot be misconstrued as any other way: So never question what you believe in? I call that ignorance.

I stand by that. I'm not trying to insult, I'm trying to make you see that its only beneficial to question what you believe in.

Part of all spiritually requires a bit of blind faith. And people that engage in blind faith are not ignorant. It takes a bit of blind faith to get up every morning. We never know for sure what the day has in store for us.
I have nothing against you, I'm sure you're a very nice person. I just think most of this came from a large amount of miscommunication....No hard feelings.
