I understand that underage children need to be protected, but this sting operation was a fraud, no underage children were harmed during this. I don't understand how this is a crime to talk to someone dirty on the internet.

Set up a fake profile in Yahoo, AOL etc teen chatrooms. They use a fake pic of a little boy or girl and say their age is 12 or 13 or 14 years old and just sit there and wait for an adult perv to chat them up. Now I don't know about you guys but I've never accidently fell into a teen chatroom and started a chat with a 13 year old and sent her pics of me jacking my pecker....while asking her if she's ever done oral and "btw, where do you live little girl? Does your mom and dad work during the day?"

I agree, but then they need to find a young girl or boy who is willing to help in the string and actually CATCH them trying it. Chatting up a 35 year old peace officer who you thought was a 13 year old girl IS NOT the same as chatting up a 13 year old girl. I know that sucks, but think about other uses of this crap. There are some really nasty ways to use entrapment tactics that don't involve protecting children but are just as shady. Entrapment is entrapment is entrapment, and it's supposed to be against the law. I am not condoning these fuckers actions, it's sick. But we are supposed to be protected from entrapment in this country.

For every police officer faking it...theres thousands chatting it up with a real child. And they show up and they get away with it. I'm sorry, I just have no pity for an adult getting busted for this. They may NOT be a real child but the pedophile does not know that, do they? Soliciting a child online is a crime and I can't think of another legal way(the way they do it IS indeed legal) they could catch them.
