The game library is way too small and the hardware is way too expensive, even with the BD player as part of the package. As it stands right now, the XBox 360 is a better buy and it's not even close. Bigger game library, equally compelling graphics, easier on the pocket book, far better online support and Sony losing a lot of it's exclusives. I love my PS2, but the PS3 is just not a smart buy right now. Of the three games dt3 listed, one can be had on the 360 and the PC (Oblivion), one is a so so shooter that isn't as good as it's main competition (Resistence: Fall of Man, which is not as good as Gears of War for the 360) and you can get better driving games (Forza 2 and Project Gotham Racing 3 come to mind). My take is that game consoles are about games, not about shiny overpriced hardware. Will the PS3 be worth the price of admission at some point? Absolutely, once the game library grows. Right now, there is almost no compelling reason to buy a PS3 over an XBox 360. |

I will personally end up owning both. I already own a 360. What I am saying is, that right now, this very moment, there is no compelling reason to buy a PS3 instead of a 360. Game consoles are about games, not shiny hardware that may or may not be "real cool" in the future. The facts are clear: The 360 has a proven game library right now, this very moment. You can go touch it, feel it and buy good games. The PS3 has an extremely limited library. Will it grow? Probably, but who's to say any of those new games will be any good? If you buy a PS3 you are spending 600 bucks on what the system COULD be in six to twelve months. If you buy a 360, you are spending 400 bucks on a system you can use extensively right now, with a proven library of great titles. Last edited by Tegan; 05-17-2007 at 06:33 PM. | |
