So, I just got back from seeing Zodiac and Dead Silence today. Both films were crazy good, but on with the reviews.

Zodiac was amazing. The real events were accurately portrayed, down to the killings and the people involved in it. I didn't think they'd show it, but they even showed the imitation letter, in which Det. Toschi was accused of writing it. Before this film, I never thought much of Lee(Arthur Lee Allen), but now he's one of my favorite suspects. The watch, the shoes, the guns, the military accessibility, etc. There is one thing I didn't like though. They showed another suspect, I think Bob Vaughn, and then the just dropped him like that.

They showed Robert Graysmith(Jake Gyllenhall) speaking with him(That's the scene in the trailer when he says, "Are you sure there's nobody else in the house?"), then he(Robert) finds out that the writing that matches the Zodiac's most is that very same guy he's in the room with, he gets freaked out, he finds out that the man was in the navy(Accsess to the boots he needed), and ends up running out the door, then we dont' here about him the rest of the film.

But out of all of the suspects, I believe Lee and Rick Marshall are the two main suspects that fit the Zodiac's description the most.
Now for Dead Silence. This movie blew SAW out of the water, and I mean it. The score Charlie Clouser did was great. You could tell before you even saw his name on the credits that it was his work. The Dead Silence theme begins and then slowly morphs into an altered version of Hello Zep. The visual effects were amazing. The twist was insanely amazing, and shocked me even more than the twist in SAW did. It even had the theme song playing and flashblacks to the earlier scenes in the movie, just like in SAW. And for all of you SAW fans, keep an eye out. Billie from SAW makes a cameo, I'll explain where, but it's in a small spoiler.

Towards the final battle between Mary Shaw, Jamie, and Det. Jim, they enter a room with all the dolls Mary Shaw made in boxes on the wall. When they start to show the clown doll(It looks like a mini version of IT the clown), the camera will pan in a wideshot across the room from the doll to Jamie and Det. Jim. Keep an eye in the middle of the room, there is a big pole/wall, and sitting against it is none other than our own Billie from SAW. He is shown twice.

What mainly made me scream in joy was not the Gregg Hoffman dedication, or Billie cameo, but more the fact that this film had a general SAW feeling to it. Keep an eye on the opening credits. This movie is written and directed by James Wan, written also by Leigh Whannell, produced by Leigh, presented by Twisted Pictures(A Burg/Koules/Hoffman production), and the score is by Charlie Clouser. I think I'm leaving a few things out, but I think I got most of it. The only thing that makes it different is that LGF doesn't distribute the film, it's from Universal, and the old one. The logo is the black and white plane flying around the world. The one good thing is that this movie, and I won't say how, is left pretty much open for a sequel, though I doubt there will be one.
