An aimless wanderer I have been,
far from my native land,
exploring,
so many places I have tasted, tried and trampled.

At first it was insatible
this lust for the unknown, the unseen.
Now I am longing to return to...
nay.. to find "home"

Is "home" your place of birth?
Or perhaps it will be a people rather than a place.
A close little knot of those who share my blood.
But returning I find it not in the arms of my mother,
or the advice of my father,
nor locked in by my childhood walls.

Why have I never tasted the feeling of home,
never found that resting place, that nest to which
I can always retreat, when storms come and comforts fail,
a place to settle and feel safe.


So I wander, I search,
I stay for a while,
then search again
always seeking a better country,
always seeking that place that feels like home.
Never finding my foxes den,
my safe haven of rest.
