Toys 'R' Us Reverses Decision on Baby Contest - AOL News

Quote:
NEW YORK (Jan. 6) - After coming under fire for denying a Chinese-American infant a $25,000 prize in a New Year's baby contest because her mother was not a legal U.S. resident, the Toys "R" Us company said Saturday evening that it had reversed its decision.

Do you think the Chinese-American baby should get the $25,000?

No the baby shouldn't. I wish all politicians would have the guts and the sensibility to change that stupid law that if an Illegal pops out a baby in the United States, that baby is automatically a U.S. citizen! What a crock.
But I believe Illegals are getting more and more rights and monetary payouts and benefits, while us Legal US Citizens get more of our rights taken away. (Just my Opinion! )

It was stated in the rules the mother had to be a legal U.S. resident. She wasn't. I don't see where the problem is.

You know, it's funny. I wrote to Toys-R-Us the day I heard about it to congratulate them on having a backbone. Then the next morning I read that they had reversed their decision.

I just don't get it. I guess if our federal laws shouldn't apply, then neither should our contest rules. Right? :tard:

What could their reasoning be? Her not being a Legal US citizen (naturalized, anyway) she has no room to take them to court.

If the baby was born in the US, she automatically gets her citizenship though, doesn't she?

Their reasoning is....saving face!

They just opened a store in China so in order to save that from failure they gave in.
