heres the story behind me hitting the racoon. it happened on Tuesday January 2nd in my 2001 Gord Focus ZX3:

i was heading down US-30 West from Fort Wayne, Indiana to Columbia City, Indiana on my way to work. at about 5:45am (had to be at work at 6am...was doing 60mph which was the speed limit) i hit the biggest racoon ive ever seen. i couldnt swerve around it as there were cars beside me and i didnt see it until the last minute...mind you it was dark outside still. anyways, i hit it head on since i couldnt go anywhere and the next thing i know i hear all this debris flying around underneath my car. i laugh and was like...hahaha racoon bones!! a minute later i look at my engine temperature and it had shot over into the red zone and the CEL was on so i pulled over and put the the hazards on. now im pissed cause im going to miss work for a few hours. i get out and look under my car and you could see coolant pouring out of a punture in a radiator hose...just great. so i go to the front of my car and seen that the front bumper is all messed up....SHIT!! so i get back in my car, call my insurance company and they ask all these questions and i answer what they needed to know. so they ask if i needed them to call a tow truck. i told them yeah so they called one. i talked to the towing company and they said theyd be there in an hour. i said no problem. an unmarked cop car pulls up behind me and notices the coolant leaking out and i told him what happened and he let me sit in his car until the wrecker came...it was like 20 degrees out. he asks me the name of the company and said that the place they called was an hour away and asked how long i had been waiting...was over an hour. so he calls the police dispatch and they get a wrecker that was alot closer. SCORE!! wrecker comes not 10 minutes later and tows my car to my house. $95 later and my car was at my house....money i dont wanna spend (im going to get re-inbursed for it anyways). i get home, call my work and tell em what happened and i will be in ASAP. i then call my insurance company and tell them my car got towed to my house and they said an adjuster is going to call me later today. adjuster calls and i tell him what happened as well and he said hes going to get the car towed for me to wherever i wanted the work to get done. i told him the local Ford dealership because they will fix it right...at least they better. so now im waiting on them to get here and they should be here soon. heres pics of the damage to car:








im pretty pissed that i now have to spend money to fix up a car i really dont want to. im also lucky i still have my truck that way i can drive that around if i need to go anywhere. i guess im lucky in that sense....ahh well. i hope it gets fixed right. i still have to come up with $500 to cover the deductible....BAH!!!

the racoon did about $1800 worth of damage to my car. damaged the bumper, radiator, radiator hoses, a/c unit, condesnor, radiator support, grille, foglamps and the horn. theres probably more tho.

Wow...that must've been one hell of a Raccoon.

One time when i was about 16 I was riding with a friend through a city park/golf course. Well, a family of raccoons crossed the road and he hit a few of them. Well, I turned around to look out the back window and none of them died, I think. They just shook it off and continued across the road.
