For those of you in the dark, this means good news for the SAW franchise's future. David Hackl was involved in SAW, SAW II, and SAW III, so he definately would know how to make SAW IV. For those of you still in the dark as to why the SAW fans care about who does these films, James Wan and Leigh Whannell wrote all three movies and James directed the first one. Leigh was Adam in SAW. Darren Lynn Bousman was the director for SAW II and SAW III. Well it was officialy announced on Bloody-Disgusting just a few weeks after SAW III was released in theaters that James Wan, Leigh Whannell, and Darren Lynn Bousman refused to return for any future SAW projects. The only one that showed even the slightest hope of returning for SAW IV was Leigh, who said he just might oversee the SAW IV project, just to give help/suggestions, and make sure that the new writers and directors don't fuck up SAW IV for us fans(Considering James, Leigh, and Darren only did SAW III because all of us fans were dying for it, no pun intended. They said the film was inspired by the fans and it was for the fans). So then the news was released on Bloody-Disgusting(It can still be found at the SAW IV Bloody-Disgusting page, click here) that the writers of the recent new film Feast were writing a script for SAW IV and the writers of, I think, the movie Red were also writing one, and the better one would be put into production. This upset all the fans, saying that they might fuck it up. But the hypocritical thing is that 3 years ago, we didnt' even know who James Wan and Leigh Whannell were, and for SAW II, we all thought we'd hate Darren, but now look at it, everybody that's a SAW fan loves him. So a few weeks ago, Mark Burg, one of the producers(Also a part of Twisted Pictures) sent the administrator of House Of JIgsaw a message, which the admin posted, saying that he[Burg] promised to make sure that the new writers/directors didn't fuck up the SAW franchise. Well, just this week we found out about David Hackl being the new possible director for SAW IV, which is good news, since he was a part of the SAW crew for SAW, SAW II, and SAW III, and he was also the second unit director for SAW III, so that means he has experience in directing, and he also knows what us SAW fans would like and not like. Anyways, sorry for the long post, just wanted to explain everything so nobody gets too confused. ![]()
